Solution

Mobile Broadband - Recieved An Invalid Response"

chrismoore
Not applicable
Hello,
I am having trouble getting into sites such as facebook and XTUBE - the error message I constantly get is "recieved an invalid response" in the top left hand corner of the page. Its getting VERY iratating to be honest with you; reading through the other discussion forums, its clear others have the same problem, but I cannot see where vodafone have fixed it. Its not my PC - i put my mobile dongle into my lodgers PC and it did the same on his, so its CLEARLY a vodafone issue, and not mine.

is there a solution for this? I have read the previous posts, and done what has been mentioned but no joy

Hi Chrismoore,

It is possible, given the nature of one of the sites you've given as an example - that you have Content Control enabled on your number, which will block access to certain websites. Please refer to our instructions here to remove this.

If you're still having problems after that, let us know, and we'll investigate this further :)

Hello Chrismoore

Can I ask which browsers you are using to access the above mentioned sites, ie Firefox, internet explorer etc? if you haven't' already tried Firefox, IE, and Chrome may i suggest you do so, this will help us verify what is happening.

I have asked a colleague to access both http://www.facebook.com and http:facebook.com (with and without the www) and they were successful, i could not investigate the second site, Xtube.

Additionally, can you do the following.

Start, programs, accessories, comand prompt

once the black command screen loads enter the following commands:

ping www.facebook.com

tracert www.facebook.com

Please copy and post the results back onto this thread.

Thanks

Hi Reidar,
I am using Firefox; I also have IE installed, and get the same thing.

I did your tests:
Both www.facebook.com and www.xtube.com have come back with "timed out, 4 packets of data lost"

on tracert, xtube and facebook had what appears to be 8 succesful responses and then 24 other "request timed out"

Accessing this site tonight (this forum) has taken me 6 attempts to load the page - it simply said "done" in the bottom left of the page but was blank

have tried to do screen shots for you, but it wont let me

Thanks

Further to this - if you google the XTUBE problem in particualr, you get a host of results in reltation to Vodafone, as with facebook

Hi chrismore

I am sorry to see you are still having issues.

We have conducted tests attempting to replicate the issues you are having, this was only using Facebook, but we had no problems in accessing this site.

We still only have yourself who is encountering this issue, so it does point to a localised, not a general fault. The failures on attempting to connect to the forum, again point to a more localised fault, be that equipment or a site issue.

Can you confirm the postcode area you are having the issues, so i can eliminate a possible site issue?

Hi chrismoore

I've had a look at that post code the coverage looks good, the local site 3522 is working fine and cannot see any local faults, I do note that we are building a few more cell sites in this area.

Ive retested from my location all the url's you have listed and do not have a problem with any of them, I suspect a local issue with the PC itself.

Have you tried this modem in another PC?

Thanks
