Mobile Broadband - What does “current credit” mean?

This is probably a silly question but what does “current credit” mean when I check my pay-as-you-go mobile broadband balance? Obviously, it means something different to the amount of data I have left on my dongle, but what? I don’t have a Vodafone mobile phone, just the dongle.

It means just as it says, the amount of cash credit on the account. On a data account the credit has to be a certain level before it converts into a data allowance, so if you have a credit balance on there below this threshold, it would display as current credit. If the balance reaches the point required for a data pack, when converted, the data pack cost is removed from the current credit.

Does that mean that if I have £5 as current credit, if I top-up online with £10 will that £10 and the £5 credit be converted into the equivalent of a £15 top-up voucher, and my current credit balance will be empty?

Spot on. As soon as you've got £15 it will be converted to a data pack. Anything below that is current credit.
