Hi, I'm trying to configure our my mobile broadband to work with our router, its asking for a load of settings and i've tried a few differnet options but i'm just want to double check if they are compatible and what the settings might be.

I have a Vodafone Mobile Connect K3760 HSPA USB Stick and a Draktek Vigor 2820 router.

Any ideas?

What info exactly is it asking for?

Nick - do any of the existing threads on the forum help? I'm pretty sure that this has come up before?

Hi Nick,

As we're not familiar with this router, we'll need to know exactly what settings you're being asked for. We should then be able to fill in the gaps for you and get you up and running :)

Please get back to us and let us know what you need :)

Hi,

I did a search, but I'll be honest, I got a little confused as to which router and mobile broadband combination the threads were discussing. One thread I was reading mentioned that the combination in question was not compatible, after closer inspection, I have a newer model router and mobile broadband stick.

The router is asking for pretty much the same information as previous model routers:

SIM PIN code
Modem Initial String (Default:AT&FE0V1X1&D2&C1S0=0)
APN Name
Modem Dial String (Default:ATDT*99#)
PPP Username (optional)
PPP Password (optional)

Has anyone had any experience with this router / mobile broadband combination?

SIM PIN code

This will only apply if you have set a PIN lock number on your SIM card. You should be able to leave this blank.

Modem Initial String (Default:AT&FE0V1X1&D2&C1S0=0)

Change this to the following:
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet"

APN Name

For this, type in the word "internet"

Modem Dial String (Default:ATDT*99#)

Leave this as the default setting.

PPP Username (optional)
PPP Password (optional)

For both of these, enter the word "web".

That should be you sorted! :D

Let me know if there are any hiccups and I'll see what I can do ;)

Hi Jon, I put all the settings in, but it doesn't seem to be connecting. When looking at the status, I get the following:

If you can access the router via telnet and dump the ppp log here, I can take a look at it for you.

My feeling is that that init. string may not work with a USB modem, as I know we use different strings in the Vodafone Mobile Connect software, and also for a non-VMC ppp connection.

I'll see if I can dig out a different init.string.

Hi PCCorrect,

I'm afraid this has stepped outside of my comfort zone now
Hopefully Neil will be able to find another string for you to try - however, officially I don't think we're able to offer any further support on this particular setup. Sorry :(
