It say's on my profile that I have 500mb Wi-fi, is this the same as the BT Wi-Fi and if so how do I connect without it asking for extra payment?

These are for BT Wi Fi Premium hot spots and not all BT hotspots. The My Vodafone app is the best way to find the hotspots that will work with your Vodafone login.
