Mobile broadband for smartphones?

neora
Not applicable
I have recently decided to purchase a smartphone, specifically the Nexus One.

However, despite hours of searching I cannot seem to find a service that suits my needs. I am looking to buy an unlocked Nexus One and use it with a Pay As You Go SIM, but I have recently been informed that a Pay As You Go SIM will not allow me to use internet services on the phone over 3G. So what I require is a Pay As You Go mobile broadband service for a smartphone, I have been searching for that for a good few hours and cannot find any provider that gives me that option.
I may simply be confused on the matter and have just misunderstood something somewhere, so please correct me if I've made any misconceptions.

I also want to make it very clear that I DO NOT want a contract, I WILL NOT use the phone on any contract... so please do not make that suggestion.
I can't seem to get the information I want anywhere, so my question here is:
What service allows me to use Pay As You Go mobile internet access with a smartphone?
Or to put it more simply... How can I access the internet using 3G on a smartphone using a Pay As You GO SIM rather than a contract?

This service must exist, I simply cannot believe that there could be such a blatant gap in the market that alienates anyone using Pay As You Go from using a smartphone.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi neora

Welcome to the eForum! Hope you stick around :).

The good news is you can use a smart phone on pay as you go :) although for you I would recommend a 30 Day SIM only plan if you're not interested in having a contract, as smart phones are very data hungry :D.

A data pack which cost's from £5.00 a month, would be beneficial for you, if you're still interested in the PAYG option, you can find more info on these here :). You simply have this added to your PAYG number and you're off!.

If you have any more questions, just give me a shout :D
