Yesterday I was refused a SIM card only deal as according to Vodafone I have a bad credit rating,I was amazed so I immediately checked my Experian credit score and it states quite clearly my account is Excellent and also no signs of any searches from Vodafone.i have now downloaded a copy of my report and want to be able to email it to Vodafone for an explanation as to why I was refused a SIM card when I have such a excellent credit report.i have tried phoning all the usual numbers, spoke to online chat(they just sorry can't help and gave me same number I had tried before) does anyone know how to actually get through to someone or an email address of some type ? where I can actually send them a copy of my Experian report. Many thanks in advance

Did you try to open a contract with Vodafone directly. I ask as some independents do decline and say a search has been carried out when it has not.
Also there is a soft search where it wouldn't show on a credit file.
Unfortunately having a good credit score does not guarantee acceptance. Sometimes it's down to too many applications/ searches in too short of a timeframe.
Due to data protection Vodafone probably wouldn't advise why you've been declined on this occasion.

Hi,tried the main website, then I tried the phone (obviously refused)..what I cannot understand is my Experian account actually says Excellent ....not good or fair etc but Excellent,I appreciate what you say but it just seems to me that they could not have checked.also there is not a huge amount of items on my account...approx 10 over the last 7 yrs....and a few of those are gas/electricity accounts from moving home.cheers

@worcesterman47 Crazy at it may seems a lack of credit activity on your credit file can be detrimental.
Companies like to see that you have obtained credit and been able to manage it. Are there any credit agreements other than the household utilities on your file?

If you have recently changed address, that will be the reason for the declined SIM only contract.
You need to make sure all the details on your credit report are up to date and you are on the electoral roll at your new address.
You are going to need to wait for three months now, this will give your credit file time to recover from this search. If you apply again before the three month period, a further search will be made on your file and you will be declined.
I hope you are able to purchase a contract after the three month wait.

@worcesterman47 It sounds as though this may be a problem that we have seen before.
As there is no record of any search of your file by Vodafone it is probably the case that somewhere along the line the process glitched so it returned a "The computer says no" result.
As @AnnS says hang in there and one of the team will be able to look into this for you.
