Have you tried to update the software.
If so leave it to complete.
If if not you could try a long press of the power button to shut the phone down and then reboot. (Phones with removable batteries can have the battery pulled to initiate a shutdown too)
If your still having issues after a soft reset then consider a Hard Reset if no other tips help. http://www.hard-reset.com/vodafone-smart-4-hard-reset.html
This will delete any data saved in the phones memory.
