We have a Suresignal (old kind with 4 lights on the front).
It has been causing problems for a while, calls have been dropping, no signal etc, and we've had numerous calls to Vodafone help.
It's been reset any number of times, we've switched ethernet cables etc. The other day, a Vodafone 'tekkie' did something, all lights went off apart from the top power light, which has stayed on solid ever since. Dead.
We've been told that our router has to be given a static IP address, also that our Suresignal needs to be given a static IP address by our router.
However, our router simply cannot find/see our Suresignal. I've tried using the SS's MAC address to allocate it a static IP address, but our router simply cannot see the SS to allocate it.
I've added the SS MAC address to our Norton Firewall's trust centre, giving it full trust, in case that was the problem, but nothing has worked.
So here I am - last resort. Can anyone help.
The MAC address of the SS is 00:0E:59:19:32:54.
Serial Number = 21221970672
Speed Test result: Upload:0.33 Download:12.78
ISP: Plusnet
Our router is an ASUS RT-N66U.

Hi spiteri,
Is there any activity from the yellow and green led's beside the ethernet port on the Sure Signal?
It may possibly be a faulty power supply unit. Don't assume that the power is ok by the appearance of the top light on the front.
Regards,
Mike.

Hi there,
Thanks for your help.
The green light on the back was solid, and the yellow light flashing, which seemed to indicate data was passing through the cable.
However, things have moved on a bit. This morning, as a last ditch attempt, I took everything down. Suresignal, router, modem, PC, the lot - unplugged everything. I left it all off for about half an hour, then put it all back together again and tried one more reset on the Suresignal.
About an hour later, there was the Suresignal - lights all glowing as normal and our phones back to full signal.
So, not sure for how long, but for now all is well. It sure would have been nice if Vodafone had suggested trying this as an option - about three months ago when it first started playing up!
Thanks again for your help.

Hi Claire,
That's good to hear,
One thing I did notice thou..... Your upload speed of .33 Mbps is rather critical for a reliable operation of the Sure Signal, perhaps a chat to your internet provider might help.
Good luck,
Mike.
