New handset - no signal yet

Hi,

I am currently with O2 but decided to move to Vodafone via the Carphone Warehouse. My new handset (iPhone 4s) arrived today. I inserted the SIM, set the phone up by charging it fully, registering with iCloud etc, etc. But it is still saying 'no signal'. I went on to the Keep My Number page as I have my PAC code - but I have used the mobile phone number provided by the Carphone Warehouse for my new contract and it keeps on saying that this is not a valid Vodafone mobile number. I can only presume therefore that somehow I need to activate the new phone/SIM but there were no instructions included with the handset, other than the leaflet that told me how to use the PAC code on the Vodafone website!

Obviously I want to get the number ported asap as I don't want to be paying for 2 contracts any longer than necessary - particularly when one of them isn't even working!

Can anyone help me please? How do I go about getting everything activated (assuming that is the problem). I have tried turning the phone off and on. It's now had the SIM in it for about 12 hours and it was only half an hour ago that I tried the off & on approach.

Many thanks

Martin

I have EXACTLY the same problem. My iPhone 4s arrived today - also signed up through the Carphone Warehouse. My mobile number is printed on the receipt included from them - but the Vodafone website says it isn't a valid number. If I get an answer I will come back on here and let you know what they say! In the meantime I will keep checking your post as well.

Good luck!

Martin

I'd recommend that you get in touch with Carphone Warehouse and find out from them if they have actually sent Vodafone the details of your account.  Vodafone cannot set up an account for you until they get the details from CPW.
