I've been out of the UK a couple of years since my pay monthly contract finished and wondered if it's possible to get my old vodafone number back? I never ported it to any other provider when the contract ended and it appears not to be in use. Anyone have any experience of this?
Thanks
John

Hi @sapchild
If it's been two years since you terminated the contract, the number would have gone for quarantine before being reissued to a new customer.
However, there is no harm asking. If you use live chat they will be able to advise further.

@AnnS, I tried live chat with no luck.
Thanks anyway.

Hi @sapchild
If only you had asked Vodafone to put the number on PAYG, you would then still have the use of the number.
If it had been a few months since the number was terminated, there might have been a chance but two years is unlikely. The number could have been reissued to another customer more than once and may have even been ported out to an alternative network.
I suspect the reason live chat were unable to help is because getting the same number back you used two years ago is impossible. I really do think you are going to let this one go.
If you want a really nice memorable number, although chargeable, Vodafone will be able to give you a list of available numbers.

I'd try calling the number. If it was originally a Vodafone number (which you say it was) and it's not been re-used then Vodafone should be able to pick it up for you and apply it to you sim.
It's not something proactively offered but it's worth the ask

Hi BandofBrothers,
Yes, I'm currently a Vodafone UK customer although PAYG and the number was on a monthly contract.
Thanks
