Phone contract cancelled

Anyone have any advice. In 2008/2009 I got a phone out on contract after around 4 months of having the phone the company I worked for lost the contract so they had to let staff go being one of them leaving me unable to pay my bill. Then Vodafone decided it would be a amazing idea to cancel the contract after a month of phone calls to them and make me pay 1267 pounds. As I paid for the full 20 months left on my contract and a fee Would I have been entitled to my minutes and text and data I paid for. I have contacted Vodafone and they can't find my details very convenient.

Hi.

9 years is a long time to wait before asking. May i ask whats instigated your query ?

If a person is experiencing difficulty but can pay they can ask for a Promise To Pay.

Or a Payment agreement set up but that route leads to a marker being placed on a person's credit file.

If a person can't pay then they'd have little choice but to restrict services to stop the bill growing.

This is the extreme avenue to cancel the contract rendering an Early Termination fee to pay which ends the contract - no minutes , texts or data are given but you keep the phon   if one was supplied, and could also be passed to debt collection agency and defaults placed on a persons credit file which lasts for 6 years.

Might be an idea to.check with a Credit File house to see if this is on your credit file as a default. One is called Experian @Antj11

The Social Media Team here who read all posts maybe able to help and guide you once they catch up with your post.

Other than that it's a case of calling customer service or use Live Chat or write to Vodafone.

I know 9 years is a long time I had been in the loft and the phone that I had off Vodafone was just in a box and made me think how do they get away with making you pay all that money and not getting the service you paid for. I did get a ccj from this also what was not the best start to life in my 20's when you need good credit at that age. Thank you for replying

You’re welcome @Antj11

Losing ones job / redundancies is always going to hit hard.

A person signs up to T&C’s when they sign up to a mobile phone agreement and this typically covers what happens in the event of such decisions.

If you received a CCJ then the situation must have escalated to the extreme.

We all have different learning curves in life.

No lecture from me.  :Smiling:

Hi @Antj11

Not quite sure the reason for bringing something up again which has been dead for 9 years and Vodafone no longer have any account information on the system.  Although you settled the amount outstanding, this was after you put yourself in default of contract, leaving Vodafone without any option but to cancel the contract, pass the debt onto debt collectors who issued a CCJ against you for the outstanding debt.

After 9 years, any default on your credit file would have been cancelled and this is something you will be able to see on your credit file.

As you have been up in the loft and found the phone which is now 9 years old, it's a shame you did not sell the phone at the time and put the money towards paying off the contract.
