Hi all,
My HTC One M8 (14 months old, 24 month warranty bought PAYG from a Voda shop) is stuck in a boot loop with a red exclamation mark in a red triangle on the screen. The local shop sent it off for repair, but because the screen is slightly cracked (Something I don't mind about , it doesn't affect the phone) they are refusing to fix it without a huge (£174) charge.
What can I do about this? I don't want them to fix the screen, just the worse issue that it won't turn on!
thanks in advance.

Go direct to HTC. Vodafone aren't allowed by any of the manufacturers to carry out warranty work if there's any evidence of damage, which a cracked screen is. You may be able to persuade HTC to look at the phone and fix the boot issue if it clearly isn't related to the cracked screen. If it is, then they will also charge for the work.

Something I think repair centres have concern about also is when removing an already damaged screen the procedure can further damage it and the end user then wants it replacing as it wasn't as damaged as it was before sending it off.
I'd support the advice to go to the manufacturer direct via their online uk support site.

Good point, @BandOfBrothers. I'd half wondered what they might say about that, but yes, it could well hamper an attempt to dismantle the phone.
