Porting number in time limit

Hi,

 

Can anyone who works for Vodafone please confirm whether there is a time limit on porting a number in to Vodafone on a new contract? I just started a contract with Vodafone on the 2nd December and i want to port a number over from EE in February next year 2017. Will this be ok?

 

I know pac codes only last 30 days but i want to know if Vodafone themselves have a time limit on how long you have to port a new number in to a new contract.

You can port a number onto a contract at any time.  There is no time limit.

 

The problems you may find will be with your online account which will be with your previous number and you will need to set up a new online account for the ported number with alternative information from the original account.  Your first bill after the number change will be proratered to reflect the number change.

Thanks. Although that link doesn't give any further information about the account issues you brought up. I don't understand what you mean by setting up another account with "alternative information". Surely my details and the contract all stay the same don't they?

Your myvodafone will be set up with the mobile number give you with a new contract. 

 

So when you decide to port in your own mobile number you'll just need to set up a new myvodafone with your ported in number which will also mean using another email address and password.

I am sorry I did not get back quicker to answer your question.

 

The online account will be with your previous number and you won't be able to log on when the number has been ported.  This means you will need to set up a new online account when you port over the number.  You won't be able to set this up using the same log in information as with the first account and will need an alternative user name, password and email address.

 

You will also need to download a fresh copy of the My Vodafone application to your phone.

Regarding the account issues, presumbaly that would be same even if i ported the number over now though (rather than in February)?

 

Also, presumably everything else stays the smae with the contract (what i pay, the term length etc)

Ideally, it is best to port the number before setting up the online account.

 

When a number is changed, it will always be necessary to set up a fresh online account. 

 

Everything else remains the same.
