I recently purchased an ''almost new'' Q10 from a well known online website. It is currently locked to Vodafone.
I have been a Vodafone customer between 2006-2013, but this year decided to try another network because of the competitive price and data allowances. I will be going back to VF at the end of the year as I find it's the only network with excellent reception in both my work and home area, but, I do have 5 months of a contract to ride out - so, I need it unlocked.
This is ordinarily a simple process -- an unlock of BB10 through the IMEI number can take as little as an hour, and I have been through this before with my old Z10. However, I have been to 3 different ''unlock vendors'' (of reputable names), and all but one came back with the response that they could not find my IMEI on the BB server, and the other produced a code that did not work. I have 8 attempts remaining.
So, I decided to go straight to VF despite their much longer turnaround, but it seems there I am also hitting a brick wall. I am not the original owner that would have dealt with VF with this particular handset, and so I am not in possession of the account number. I have been communicating with the seller who has given me 2 different account numbers, but both have come back negative.
I am fond of the handset, and it works perfectly etc., so am reluctant to return unless I have to. I am just concerned that a usually simple procedure is seemingly difficult with this handset. Could there be a security issue with the IMEI on this phone? Why would it not be on the BB server?
Can VF do anything for me without the original account number? I would be grateful of any assistance.
