As per the title, the recent OTA update has killed my battery life!
IMS Framework is now always running, and that stops the phone from going to sleep - so it is always awake.
The battery lasts only for a couple of hours now - making the phone useless for business use while travelling.
Before anyone suggests it, I have done a factory re-set, and cleared the phone cache - same result with just the phone software running - no Apps installed.
This is appalling!
How can I revert to the previous phone software?
Vodafone, you obviously didn’t test this last release!!!

I went into my local (semi) friendly vodafone store yesterday with a very hot phone - it had been using battery at a spectacular rate on the current normal items. He confirmed it wasn't right, there was a problem, he could send it back to samsung, and I'd get a non-smartphone!!! He didn't have any smartphones left - i wonder why....
He claimed to know nothing about the ims/ messaging issue, and therefore didn't realise that sending it back to samsung is failry pointless unless I then don't update. If they would make it a google play edition and I could have a vanilla phone without vodafone bloatware and i'm not sure I'd miss touchwis all that much.
The best suggestion I've had was from a high street retailer who suggested I buy myself out of contract for about the value of the phone plus a discount he'd give and start with a new network. Oh, and one that had 4g!
Is this really what vodafone wants?, becasue lots of people seem to be leaving. We still haven't got that update promised several weeks ago, and I had to buy a battery and a 2nd payg phone to ensure I could be reachable.
So, vodafone agree my phone is not right, but offer no sensible solution. I'm due an upgrade in 3 months, do I stay or do I go..............

Hi everyone,
To echo what's been said before, I'm afraid my team have no control over timescales or firmware updates.
I've amended a couple of posts in line with the House Rules as those pages had third party advertisements.
You're welcome to PM links, though do bear in mind that rooting the phones will mean we're unable to support any warranty repairs for anything else in future.
As promised, we'll post back as and when we learn more.
Thanks,
Ben

I apologise for breaking "house rules" and trying to assist people who have a problem with their phones, invoked by Vodafone sending an OTA update, and then promised to fix it. Guilty as charged - how dare I try to help people.
Oh wait....THAT is customer service - not something you would know about.

Hi
Where did you get the updates from. Voidafone sent me a text indicating they were updating my messaging service which could be disabled throught Rich Communications, which I instantly did!
IMS framework is currenltly not showing on my battery usage altough it reappeared a couple of days ago and went up to 42%. Possibly turning off RC has disabled / reduced its activity. |My baseversion is still UGNH7.
RIW.

Hi @waynedd99
Please see the latest information we have on this update here.
It’s entirely up to you, whether you’d like to update now or at a later time.
Thanks,

I had a text from vodafone this am telling me that rcs was again here and an answer to no problem I've got or had. You would have thought it was clear to vodafone that there are better options in google play than what they're offering.
Any way noticed battery life was draining too quickly and discovered that ims framework was back and had taken 10% of my battery in about 90 mins this morning, and wondering why noticed that rcs had been switched on. Not me.
Battery life is now rubbish again, charging at the mo, after if went flat in about 6 hours.
Great service again from vodafone, just into the christmas period where need the phone to last away from desk and car for longer and they send out an update I didn't want/need or ask for. Why oh why oh why, and noting a comment earleir in the thread, who on earth tests these things. It shouldn't be us.
3 months till my contracts up, may leave vodafone, won't take a vodafone locked phone again, need an unlocked phone without the bloatware.
