Hi
Can you try a soft reboot by turning the phone off and on.
If no help back up and perform a factory reset.
Ensure your our on the most recent firmware.
If no help seek help from Samsung uk support and or a Samsung Service Centre if you have one local.

Samsung Galaxy s²³ Ultra 512gb Phantom Black.

I have a couple of older Samsung devices that both have a memory manager app, which you can use to close running apps and also clear RAM. It might also be worth going into the phone's main Settings menu and then, under Storage and USB, clearing app caches. It's possible all that will kick start the button back into life - it sounds like a resource issue. If that and the suggestion of a soft reset fails, a factory reset would be the next port of call, but let's hope it doesn't come to that.
