Just got a prompt last night for an update of 155mb. Haven't noticed much yet other then the messaging app has got an upgrade and now adding emoji doesn't convert a text message to MMS. There's a Rich Communications option under Network which is related to the sms app.
Baseband version: I9505XXUGNH7
Anyone else got this? :cathappy:
Solved! Go to best answer.

Hi Everybody
As you may have noticed, we have merged a number of threads surrounding RCS together into one thread per device. This has been done so all the conversations can be done in one place rather than in several different threads. This means we are making sure that we can monitor the posts easier and when we respond we are doing so to everybody on the one device.
Please note that this thread is for discussion for RCS on the Samsung Galaxy S4 device only. If you wish to discuss the matter on another device please go to the relevant thread. If there are posts about different devices made on here, then the moderators will move them to the proper threads.
Thank you.

This is dreadful - my battery is draining in about 3 hours!
I just did a full factory reset, all the hassle associated with that and it's STILL draining the same rate!!!!
Vodafone: you have just trashed my usability - what are you going to do about it?

As MattJS pointed out:
From this page:
http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Samsung-Galaxy-S4/bd-p/SamsungGalaxyS4
it does suggest that this problem is solved - which it clearly isn't
Please remove the 'correct answer' flag which is erroneous and misleading - and answer the real problem, which is that my phone is currently unusable.

So far, so good - after 1 hour no sign of the battery dropping significantly.
As jpwjpw says:
"Untick
Settings->Connections-> More Networks-> Rich Communications
Then reboot the phone"
But you have to reboot the phone, and then you have to untick Rich Communications again (and I suspect every time you reboot in the future it will come back automatically).

I don't have any "disappearing software" but the phone's battery is drainning rather rapidly compared to before the update and it seems to get rather hot for no reason (when I'm not even using it), not to mention the random reboots.
Android version is 4.4.2
Baseband version I9505XXUGNH7

I've just been reading the Vodafone Spain forum and they appear to have had the battery drain issue with IMS Framework in an earlier firmware (perhaps one not released in the UK). The I9505XXUGNH7 firmware was claimed to be a fix for the issue for Spanish customers, but our experience would suggest not.
Although not everyone found it to help, the Spanish forum suggested clearing the cache and data for the IMS Framework app. I did this and so far it has been fine: never more than 4% of battery drain. It's worth a try and essentially harmless - much better than doing a factory reset, which is pointless in this (and most) situation.

When i was on with samsung when they was looking at my S5 with the same issues, he said thet Vodafone had tampered with the IMS app and the IMS framework was corrupt.
IMS = Instant messaging Service
so i can only asume its the same with the S4
Samsung did say why they have not used there own app instead of messing around with there app
he told me that Vodafone had made a app called Message+ but there is no sign of this on the Note 3,S4,S5
at least they have stopped moving and mesing around with posts
But why were getting two people from Vodafone comenting one seems to know whats going on the other seems to have no idea ??
Thats not helping

13% battery at 11:30 after fully charging over night, and I haven't used it once.
Android version 4.4.2
IMS Framework using up 36% of my battery
I've disabled Rich Communications now, but will have to wait and see if it helps.
And in case anyone is wondering I am extremely annoyed.

I upgraded the other day and since them have gone from having a battery life of over a day to a matter of hours. I look and see this IMS programme is using between 60 and 80% of my battery, but I can't uninstall it and I can't disable it. Why would Vodafone do this to my handset?
Please can something be done to resolve this - possibly allow us to uninstall this poor piece of software from my device, as with it on there my phone is useless!
I have attached screenshots showing software details and an illustration of the unacceptable battery use from this app
