Rich Communications Suite - Samsung Galaxy S4

Just got a prompt last night for an update of 155mb.  Haven't noticed much yet other then the messaging app has got an upgrade and now adding emoji doesn't convert a text message to MMS. There's a Rich Communications option under Network which is related to the sms app.

Baseband version: I9505XXUGNH7

Anyone else got this? :cathappy:

Hi Everybody

As you may have noticed, we have merged a number of threads surrounding RCS together into one thread per device. This has been done so all the conversations can be done in one place rather than in several different threads. This means we are making sure that we can monitor the posts easier and when we respond we are doing so to everybody on the one device.

Please note that this thread is for discussion for RCS on the Samsung Galaxy S4 device only. If you wish to discuss the matter on another device please go to the relevant thread. If there are posts about different devices made on here, then the moderators will move them to the proper threads.

Thank you.

Jeez.. I'm hoping not! Before this update when I added an emoji I always got a warning about converting to MMS. Now this doesn't happen and I'm adding emojis with careless abandon lol. The text sends without any conversion warning and after the text has sent the timestamp has "SMS" beside it. Here's hoping I'm not getting charged!

If you want to use emojis try the Hangouts app it does warn you but asks you to put it into Auto mode

this means that if a phone has emojis it tells the recivig phone the combination of characters

and its free i have just help my sisters boyfrend fix his S4 and Samsung did this

They log into the phone do what ever they need to, which is very strange

then they ask you to log in to your pc (very safe) and they roll the phone back using Kies

his S4 after the updat lasted four hours instead of eight and this was on a Battery that Samsung replaced

vodafone must be coming up with some form of fix by now

I have recently updated my firmware but I don't have rich communications suite.

Why is that? Screenshot_2014-09-13-09-46-13.png

Count yourself incredibly lucky Heather. It's a pile of rubbish that eats up your battery. And it's not even worth having. I bet Vodafone have pulled it from the update because of the negative reaction. Or is that assuming too much competence?

Is there anyway to uninstall the last update?

Definitely assuming too much competence.

I have the same issue with IMS Framework eating all my battery on an S4 after the 4.4.2 update.

Vodafone - please can you acknowledge the problem, so that we know you're working on restoring our service.

Vodafone,

You are making these phones unusable. Please explain what steps you are taking to solve this or at least put out the previous firmware (even if with a higher version number) so that we can remove this battery drain that you've introduced.

My phone has hardly been used today and was charged for 30 minutes duringthe day and is now at 10% with 59% of the power used by the IMS framework. I have unticked Rich Communications Suite but it seems to have made no difference.

Settings attached.

After posting last week about this issue I've done a factory on both mine and my wife's handsets last Friday.  Whilst my phone seems to be not as bad anymore my wife's phone died in about 3 to 4 hours today.  My 11 year old son could not get through to her to be picked up from school!

vodafone need to properly acknowledged the issue and confirm they are actively looking to fix this and issue an eta.

As mentioned my handset is behaving better than hers, but it is still not right.  The phone keeps getting very hot even when I'm not using it.

I have the same issue with IMS Framework using atleast 70 - 80 % of my battery. Yesterday my battery only lasted 3 hours without me even using the phone. I spoke to Vodafone customer services yesterday evening and they suggested I reboot the phone (Volume down button+Power On+Home Key) am not sure this is even a reboot so went online and sort how to clear cache settings. Which I followed and it did? But low and behold IMS Framework and Rich Communications just keep running again?! Not sure what else is required here as by the sounds of earlier post Factory Reset doesnt seem to be effective either? Vodafone can you please look at this matter as its effecting alot of people some of which are probably not going to post their plight on here.
