In USA - roaming worked om Florida and Georgia ..... but South Dakota is in another universe !!
Now I am in South Dakota I am stuck with a phone that is as much use as a paper-weight.
Everyone else here seems to to connect to AT&T while roaming - but my Vodafone can't even find it, let alonf connect to it.
Still - saves on the fiver a day charge Vodofone would swipe if I could use my phone.
Disgruntled.

Maybe it was a phone issue - but the phone is supposed to work in the USA (which is why I selected the model).
However, the question remains what Vodafone support just did not even consider this question in over 2 hours of online chat support. (I presume they knew the model of phone I use).

What phone is it? I should be able to discover what frequency bands it can cope with.
I'm not at all sure that the Live Chat people would see what model of phone you had, and I do wonder whether this issue would be part of their standard scripting - I'll try feeding back, to see if this could be added. But I think that realistically, unless you get an agent who has travelled in and out of the Americas a fair amount, it isn't something that they would have experienced - this GSM world coverage map gives some indication of the problem, but even that doesn't address the increasing preponderance of 850MHz in the US.
I speak from bitter experience of another problem with international travel - persuading secretaries who haven't travelled outside of western Europe that international time differences matter, and that it really isn't friendly to phone the boss the minute they have finished opening the post in the morning. You can turn off your mobile overnight, but unfortunately hotel front desks try to connect calls at whatever time they come through.

Hi @qsecofr
The most likely reason for this would be a restriction on the account where Vodafone have suspected unusual high spending, although you should have received a text asking you to make contact to confirm the usage was being made by you.
Unless it is a network issue in the roaming location, it will mean calling Vodafone from any other phone for account access. The number for calling from abroad is +447836191191 (free from a Vodafone phone).
