Hi all, i'm a vodafone pay monthly customer and is one of many unlucky customer who purchased my plan before the changes in May 2016, so i'm not entitled to use my inclusive plan while i'm away out of the UK. I'll be travelling abroad within the next few weeks and have been made aware of the Pay Monthly extra daily addon. But i'm just a little paranoyed about using my pay monthly sim abroad as i've been strung last month with a huge bill and i'm not planning on taking the risk this month. So i'm just thinking of using a Pay As you Go Sim while i'm away, I am prepared to get the daily addon on that sim, but my question is if i top up, does the money I top up go towards my tarrif or do I have credit left over?

I agree that with the new Tariffs you could end up with paying Roaming OOB and that can be expensive.

If you have pre may Tariff, and enough data, then better staying on the as more data available and also UK OOB then Roaming. And the cost being £3 per day. And on this Tariffs you can add 2GB as extra pack and use that for Roaming as well.

45.9p is quite high but not surprised as part of Zone 2.

I will probably write a guide like I did for Euro/World Traveller for inclusive roaming. Will add a column to show the OOB charges.

Thank you @Getafix, I think a guide would be tremendously useful, as this situation over inclusive roaming is potentially very confusing.

I've just checked the EuroTraveller for PAYG Ts&Cs and there is a very important difference from the PayM version. If you have a PAYG account, EuroTraveller gives you 100MB of roaming data per day for your £3, but if you exceed the 100MB, you’ll be charged our standard rates for using data in our Europe Zone 1 and 2 Well, that's OK if you're in Zone 1 (eg France or Germany), but if you're in Zone 2 (eg Turkey), you're looking at 45p per MB. Clearly 10GB is quite impossible, as you couldn't top up fast enough, but that carries a theoretical charge of £4,500.

But the situation for a post-May PayM account is also pretty scary. If you have the maximum 4GB of inclusive roaming data, you could still be looking at 6GB at 45.9p per MB - a mere £2,750. And, for PayM, it could just get added to your bill!

If you have a pre-May PayM account, it all gets a lot less scary. Provided you opt in to EuroTraveller, and possibly add a 2GB Data Extra, you might manage it all out of your UK data allowance for a mere £3 per day. If your UK data allowance runs out, at least you're only looking at  £6.50 per 250MB for any excess usage - unless I've got the arithmetic wrong, even 5GB would only cost £130.

So, @OGbanta, if you're still following this - stay with your present account, opt in to EuroTraveller, and do, please, try to keep your data usage within bounds!
