SS Has Stopped Working - TRIED EVERYTHING!!!!

Hi,

After using the SS for around a month and losing connectivity every few days, its finally stopped working altogether.

Tried EVERYTHING suggested on here (and lets be honest, most of it is straight out of THE IT CROWD, telling you to turn the machine off and on again) to no avail.

Just like OneNet, Sure Signal is yet another flawed Vodafone product.

Tried calling customer services today (Sunday) and you were shut. Excellent.

Went into store; they knew nothing about it other than how to process a sale.

Any more 'ideas', before I write off the £100 we spent on it?

i live in Lichfield where there is a vodaphone shop selling the usual products

at no time or place in the shop do they warn customers that the coverage in most of lichfield and its immediate area is non existant.I had to fork out for a sure signal box £100 but that has now stopped working despite numerous resets and calls to the helpline.the advice ive been given is to fork out another £100 for another one as mine is over 12 months old.i am appalled at the cavalier and mercenary approach to this problem.

That's pretty disgraceful.

In Cardiff, Vodafone have lots of colourful POS material touting 4G tariffs and the like, but there is still no Vodafone 4G in Cardiff - EE and 3UK both do.

Hi Andy,

"In cases such as these, a factory reset from our side can kick your device back into life."

So why am I having to alert you of a issue within your system?

And as for "If there was a wider issue with the Sure Signal service, we’d be seeing more posts about it on the forum." - just take a look around this forum; the issues are WIDESPREAD!!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your posts.

@mikemarchment – Please take a look at our Sure Signal Troubleshooting thread. If this doesn’t resolve your query, please post your reply either below, or in the relevant thread, together with the details requested, including the following information.

Your speed test results from here.

Your ping test results from here.

Your external IP address from here.

The results of a traceroute.

Your Sure Signal serial number:

VSS Traceroute command

On a PC:

Click on Start and select Run

Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok

A black box will appear.

In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter

Paste the output of this command into your reply.

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

@ followbox – Although you may see a number of threads on the eForum about the Sure Signal, this is a very small percentage of actual customers who are using the service without any issue.

In most cases, you will also see that the problems are actually setup issue rather than a Vodafone server error.

In regards to the 4G price plans, these are available as they include extra allowances that you can use on 2G and 3G when available.

@yellow160 – When we look at a traceroute there are a few things that we look for.

  1. We need to make sure that each hop (each line) shows a ping (the numbers) as less than 200ms.

If it is higher than this, it will mean that the connection will fail.

  1. We need to make sure that the last IP address on the traceroute is one that belongs to us.  This can vary from time to time but as long as the last one is us, it means it is communicating with our server.

Can you tell us what light sequence you are seeing and what you serial number is?

James

@yellow160

Absolutely! The traceroute 'blag' is just Vodafone attempting to BS customers!

I have neither ability or time to do all that please reset from your end and stop this nonsense
I am not a computer technician and can't do all that stuff you seem to think is easy

@followbox - Sadly your post now makes no sense because the moderators seem to think that merging all posts from one person, even whole new threads, into the middle of another thread is the best policy.

I have the first generation sure signal and it's not working with my iPhone 5s. I cannot open my Vodafone either having tried repeatedly, even changing my password. It keeps saying not recognised. Disappointed as a resident of Royal Deeside where the signal is poor. Years of efficient service and now nothing seems right.
Can you connect me remotely through my BT Broadband
My serial number is 21197096916
