Samsung Galaxy Alpha invalid sim

Hi all.

Hope this is in the right place.

I bought an unlocked Galaxy Alpha a few months ago for my wife. Got her (and my daughter) a sim on my account with the data sharer.

Last night my wife had an invalid sim error on her phone.

She has been using sim fine for months. Haven't changed any sims or taken this sim out but now it is asking for a code??

She is running Android 5.0.2

Any help is most appreciated

From what I've read Checkmend would state what network has imei blocked it.  Checkmend.

As the phone possibly hasn't been supplied by Vodafone the Highstreet store staff would probably be courteous and advise it's not something they can help with.

As I mentioned earlier if this was mine I'd pick up the main network SIM cards , probably from a discount £1 store and try them.

Ok. I'll see what they say. I've done my checkmend report and it came back all clear but didn't provide me with a carrier??

The bottom line is that they can't help you simply because you didn't purchase the device from them nor is it locked to Vodafone. It's all a bit strange, the way your friend doesn't remember what network he bought it from and where he had it unlocked. It is also very odd that nothing is showing on Checkmend - that usually indicates that it isn't locked.

Have you tried the phone in a different location, in case it's a local network issue?   I ask because I'm not getting a signal indoors at home today.  Doing a manual search finds Vodafone, but attempting to connect implies that my SIM can't be connected to the network.  Going outside gets a connection, so it's all well in reality.
