What is the official line from Vodafone on this?. Had the initial handset and the replacement, neither of which have had any issues and have been the best phone I've owned.
Media reports state to turn off the handset and return it, although given the abysmal customer service on the first recall by Vodafone, I'd like an official answer rather than the 5 or 6 different ones I seem to get everytime I call

No you have to hand them back in, I got my contract through carphone and it was a free gift and without the VR they won't accept a return, I've sold the VR and they want to charge me £90 for the VR to then start the return of my note 7

Unfortunately when a gift is attached to the main item which you receive for taking it then if the main item is returned then so does the gift.
If not people could take out a contract to get the free gift and then cancel and keep the gift which no business could sustain.

There is no such thing as a free gift other than in marketing speak. It's all built in to the price somwhere.

Nice to see Vodafone continue their abysmal customer service record. I just called to send my Note 7 back and was asked if I wanted another one. No idea as usual.
Still at least I wasn't told my head would be blown off.

Wow, Vodafone customer service are slated left and right in the comments of that article so i'm glad it's not just us. Why on earth don't they do something about it? It's the one major thing that lets them down.

i thought i would try again following a text from Vodafone to ring them.
i was told they will send me a returns pack and then if i want to stay with Vodafone then i can ring up and order a new phone.
There is a month wait for an iphone 7 so i will be without a phone for a month. No idea what happens to my contract, i guess they will keep charging me.
what a mess, not helped by an incompetent company who couldn't care less about their customers.

I have never ever know a company like it, I have a replacement note 7, so i follow the steps on the vodafone website, and call them up to arrange for the phone to be sent back, and then to see what they are going to do about a replacement phone, only to be told that they will contact me in 3 to 5 working business days??????, so i then ask what am i supposed to do for a phone, only to get told that my note 7 is ok to use until they call me to arrange to have it exchanged.
this is a complete contradiction to the announcement on your very own website, your customer services astound me with their inadequacy and complete lack of proffesionalism, it seems to me that vodafone pride themselves on what a complete calamity their customer services are, not one person knows what they are talking about, and every advisor you speak to tell you a different story, and then they make it as difficult as humanly possible to complain.
if i weren't a customer it is so bad it would actually be funny
