Interestingly, when I added a new number to my contract, I managed to send an MMS almost immediately. I wasn't trying to and it foxed me for a while until I spotted that I'd sent an SMS to an email address (due to the way the contacts were set up). The thing is that MMS was apparently provisioned from day 1. Would I be right in assuming that this is therefore something that's done at account, not number, level?

A Bit off topic but in the days of Snapchat, Instagram, Whatsapp, Theema & many many others why is it so expensive to send an MMS ???
Yes 10 years ago when it was the only way to send a grainy low qual pic to someone I guess Voda & others could get away with a charge ... but now whats the point ?

hyrm - The provisioning is done at a number level as opposed to account level.

In that case, it would seem that not all numbers are blocked from the start??

Interestingly, a thing called Rich Communications Suite is being rolled out. The Vodafone implementation is called Message+. In time, it'll be the default messaging app and it works pretty much like Whatsapp etc. I agree about the charges for MMS, but it's a legacy service and I suspect it'll just die out rather than be updated.
As I understand it, if your use RCS/Message+ to send something to someone who doesn't use the app, the message just comes through in the old format, so it has a degree of backwards compatibility.
