Samsung Galaxy S5:- Network Connection Problems

I have a galaxy S5 on a 3G package which does some weird things. I should also say that i have had a new sim in the last week to try and address this problem. I live in a low coverage area and have to go upstairs (or outside) to use my phone with any kind of reliable signal. I accept that this is not the phones fault. it is not unusual for the phone to lose signal entirely for a minute or so, but then it should come back. With annoying regularity the phone loses its signal, shows the no-entry icon in the signal bar, and refuses to reconnect to the network, no matter where in the house or outside i go. It should just re-connect to the network like my old BB Bold used to. The only way i can get it to connect is to restart it, which surely cant be right. I have also had the strange situation where my phone is showing 3 bar signal strength, but incoming calls go straight to voicemail. I can then make a call from my phone and it starts accepting incoming calls again. Is this a correctable problem or is the phone itself faulty? many thanks in advance for your help Flubster

I had that a couple of times in work after an update ... but it sorted itself out ofter a week or so

At home I would reccomend a SureSignal. I have a V2 for about 6 years as my property is built with proper bricks and its great.

Hi flubster,

Go to:

  • Settings
  • Connections
  • More networks
  • Mobile networks
  • Network mode
  • And from here, ensure that you’re selecting ‘auto connect’.

Can you also provide me with your full postcode?

It sounds like this may be a general coverage issue, rather than a fault.

Thanks,

Wayne

Thanks Steve & Wayne.

Interestingly I enquired about sure signal in my local Vodafone shop and they said they haven't had any stock for about two months. They think that an upgrade is coming.

Wayne. Happy to provide my postcode, but don't want to post it on an open forum. Is there a way to send privately? Also, can confirm settings are on auto connect.

Thanks

Hi Flubster,

Looking at our team inbox, we've had no emails from the account you used to sign up to the eForum with.

If you used a different email address, please let me know the [#8xxxxxx] reference you got back.

If it was the same email address, please use the instructions Sukhi provided again.

It's very important you follow them closely, especially the part about the subject title you should use. This is how we ensure the email reaches my team instead of being bounced back.

Cheers,

Ben

Hi Flubster,

Hello!

I'm having the same issues as the original post! I have a Samsung S5 and everything was working fine until a couple of days ago. I keep losing internet signal and event though it says it has 3 bars of signal, the calls go straight to voicemail. If I restart the phone, it fixes the problem for a while and then starts again.

I have changed my sim to an old Samsung S3 I have, just to see if I had the same behaviour, and with the S3 it worked perfectly all day!

I'm really lost
