Samsung S6 Edge inactive SIM new customer

Hi all.

Received my s6 edge white handset yesterday but the sim isn't active. ....I rang VF they advised they are in the process of changing their systems but they've sent the request. The advisor told me I could also go online to sim swap and try but that appears to be for existing customers.

How long does it normally take for new customers to become active?

When I got my phone I had to activate new sim and was told it can take upto 24 hours. Luckily only took few hours
