Should I return my phone?

Bought an iphone 6 on Vodafone online committing to RedXL pay monthly plan that will net Vodafone £1284 but I have never experienced such abysmal support from what is supposedly a tier-1 provider.
1. Unable to use online form to enter PAC as my number is recognised a PAYG (even though online account when accessible doesn't reflect this). Result: gone into another billing cycle with previous provider
2. Phone has no mobile data. Returns a msg saying I have not subscribed to a mobile data service.
3. Spent an hour with rep in a Vodafone store who attempted various suggestions made by tech support to no avail. Apparently this is a known issue?? (Still unsure if he meant inadequate tech support...). Needed data roaming for trip to NL next day.
4. Unable to access any of contact centre numbers from Holland. Vodafone repeatedly denies me access to my online account as web page has too many redirects.

So, I have a phone that's less useful on-network than my very first one from 1993; I can't speak to anyone; I can't get onto my online account (again).

Did I make a gross error with this network and should I bail out now?
