Smart Ultra 6 Carrier logo in top left corner of notification - how do I remove it?

Hi, How do I remove the Vodafone logo on the left of my black strip at the top (notifications bar). The option 'show mobile network' which works for other brands is missing on the Ultra 6.

Other brands do? Not that I've seen. Certainly the iPhone doesn't have that option unless you jail break and I've never found it on any Android phone I've used.

Moto was one I came across by googling. Can't remember which version. 

I like an uncluttered bar at the top and that particular spot is for my Date app. So I'd really like to get rid of it.

The reality is that most phones don't support the removal of the carrier name.  I believe that the Ultra 6 is one of those that doesn't

There is no way that Vodafone will allow anyone to remove the network name from a Vodafone branded handset.

If I understand this right, it's not the branding but where the name of the connected network appears.   I've just switched mine* off, so can't check quicky, but I'm pretty sure it's on the lockscreen and says "Vodafone UK").  Certainly not on the notification bar (and I don't remember seeing it there anyway on anything I have).  I also haven't seen a toggleable "show" option since my non-smart Nokia days

I suppose it is definitely the Vodafone logo and not something from an app that looks a bit like it?  It's just that I was bothered by an icon that appeared in exactly that position and I eventually worked out that it was from a data manager app that I use (and was turn-offable!)

Like @hrym, I'm a little puzzled, as my initial thought was that I'd never seen the carrier's name or logo in the position you describe. Can you provide a screenshot?

I've just switched on all 4 android phones currently in my possession, all with active SIMs in them. Three of them received SMSs, and there was a notification symbol for that extreme left of the notification bar, but that went once the messages had been read.

The fourth, a Sony Z1 Compact, may potentially offer something. On the lock screen only, the words "vodafone UK" appear top left, but the minute I unlock the screen, they disappear, so although that camera is very willing to take screenshots, that's the one screen that can't be "shot". As I type, I realise that the phone isn't locked to Vodafone, so I can't say what would happen if it were.

The only other possible clue I can offer - could it be anything to do with an update or upgrade of Vodafone software which is awaiting your attention? Again it's the Z1 Compact, but at the moment I have a peristent OfficeSuite logo very top left, because the phone wants me to install an update to OfficeSuite, and I am actually debating with myself whether to uninstall it entirely. If there are other notifications in the bar, I can clear them, but the OfficeSuite one just sits there; if it's the only notification, the "clear" option simply doesn't appear. If you swipe down on the notification bar, do you get any relevant information?

Further thoughts overnight:

Firstly, should have mentioned that one of the 4 phones is a Vodafone Smart 4 Mini. The other 3 are a Samsung S3 Mini, an HTC One M9 and the Sony Z1 Compact already described.

Secondly, after rude remarks by my husband about "only 4 phones" I've located number 5, an aged Huawei G300, which behaves just like the others, except that I have an add-on battery monitor top left on the notification bar. I could relocate that to the home screen without problem if I wished to do so. But I note that overnight notifications from my antivirus app have tucked themselves in to the left of the "permanent" inhabitants of the lhs of the notification bar, ie the battery monitor on the Huawei and the OfficeSuite icon on the Sony.

My main conclusion overnight is that the majority of modern android phones regard the lhs of the notification bar as the place for transitory notifications, and anything that you intentionally place there, like a date or a battery percentage, will be subject to a certain amount of jostling.

I'm not unsympathetic - I like a nice uncluttered screen, and usually clear the assorted notifications from the bar asap - but I don't think that Google or the phone manufacturers are on our side in this.

On the pic,where AT&Tsucks is. It's from Android Central where someone had the same question. He/she was able to change it to AT&Tsucks as it was rooted and there's an app for that. I know how to root but I'd rather not.

My daughter's doesn't do this but her sim is over a year old my sim is brand new.

It's as I said it was  - it's the name of the network you want to remove and you won't be able to.

Also remember that rooting will invalidate your warranty should you decide to go that route (no pun intended).
