Smart Ultra 6 - hdmi out

keithbrown
4: Newbie

Hi All,

Changed my wonky galaxy s4 for the ultra 6. Pleasing so far.

One irritation however, is that my cable which I used to connect from the S4 to my HDMI port on the TV, no longer works on the Ultra 6. When I connect the Ultra 6 to the TV, the cable has no effect at all. The S4 used to say HDMI connected, but the ultra 6 does nothing at all.

Am I missing something? Does anyone else have a cable connection to the TV working? What cable are you using?

Regards,

Keith.

Could you use a Chromecast instead?   It works best with compatible apps, but can also cast the screen on recent versions of Android.  I came late to this particular party, but I've been very pleased with mine.

If you're wanting to show photos, one way is to sync them with Google Photos and then use the dedicated app.

Hi Keith,

I've taken a look through the full User Manual Here but am unable to find anything in relation to what your asking.

A Google Search isn't returning anything very useful in connection to this.

I would suggest if convenient to pop into your local Vodafone Shop to ask the guys and gals there if they know the answer.

If you speak to Customer Services via 191 or Live Chat they maybe able to advise or pass you through to a particular department that can help further.

Would you update your thread with any outcome.

Thanks for your reply, BoB1,

This suggests the ultra 6 doesn't support TV output 😞

BoB1 - do you think this is a hardware limitation, or will 5.1.1 fix this?

Cheers,

Keith.

You're welcome.

I couldn't confirm if the firmware will change this particular facility.

It would depend first if the actual Hardware has the capability.

Here's another link suggesting the phone doesn't do this. Bit annoying, as it's something I did all the time on the S4. However, this is a bargain basement phone, so we have to be realistic that costs will be cut by cutting features.

Would be nice if 5.1.1 sorted this, but my suspicion is that it's a hardwrae limitation.

Hi, don't know if this helps but the cable I used to use was device specific so only worked with the phone it was meant to.

Hi CC

Can't find a cable for this phone, so I suspect the phone isn't capable of running this service.

Cheers,

Keith.

Hi,

Just to confirm tht 5.1.1 doesn't make th phone support TV output via HDMI, so it's hardware related.

Also, chromecast does do what I want it to do, so thanks. I just prefer the simplicity of using a cable.
