Hello;
I don't known if this is true ('cause i was told it by vodafone) but after having my sure signal 1 box out of service for 7 out of 8 weeks they seem to be admitting that there are network problems with this type of unit. I have been assured ( oh how I laughed) that they are doing a s/w upgrade on it tonight. This apparently is affecting all sure signal 1 users.
Can someone from vodafone please confirm that this is true, or is it just another blag by tech support to get you off the phone?
Cheers
Ps i have told customer support that I am now charging them £25 an hour for any further calls I make as this has gone on far far far to long.
Solved! Go to best answer.

All,
Complained to customer services about the lenght of time to get this problem resolved. Got £40 compo. Worth complaining as they may take VSS problems seriously if there is a finacial penalty.

Hi Easegill,
There is some truth to this.
Basically we’ve seen an issue recently on the version one Sure Signals, where all the correct lights are lit but none of the phones are picking up a 3G signal.
This isn’t affecting all Sure Signal version one’s but we have a firmware patch that we can roll out to the customers that are having this issue.
Has the update gone through? Has it resolved your issue?

Certainly interested in this as I have a V1 at my father inlaws and a v2 at my home.
Shame there isn't more info on the Sure Signal page on in the user account area.

James,
my S/n is 21197087246.
Could you answer the two questions I posted last time: 1) How do you tell if the update has gone through? you asked the question. 2) have you checked the log of this fault?

Hi Easegill,
There's no specific way to see the update has happened other than the Sure Signal starting to work. You may see the lights flashing whilst the update happens and the profile updates.
It's been a couple of days since your post and I can see the Sure Signal connected this morning, so can I check if this has started working for you now?
If not, can you try this to refresh things? I had the same issue recently and it worked for me:
Failing that, we'll get the update pushed back through.

Dave,
Did that yesterday at14:59 and it's still not working!
can you push it through again and let me know when it has been done.
What's the plan if this fails? can i get out of my current contract and swap to a provider that can give me a signal or would vodafone like to stump up £130 so i can buy a GSM booster aerial plus hire of roof ladder to install?
8 out of 9 weeks now without signal in house!

James,
ok we will wait and see.
I now have three questions outstanding in this dialogue. Could someone please have the curtousy to respond to them. I'm starting to get the same feeling of being "blanked" as i did on the phone for the last 9 weeks.

James,
That appears to have cracked it!
Before I post a "problem solved" I have 2 questions;
1) what version is the firmware update that got pushed through last nite? (so when it goes again I can ask for it directly with 2nd line tech support on the phone)
2) will the update hold when POR? I need to move the VSS off the dinning room table ( there so I could monitor lights)
