Internet light flashing constantly.......... we got the new SS in dec and registered it on line where it ways "registered in your gateway" but every time i try and add a user it says "New members were added to your Gateway. Users invalid".
The SS just has the internet light flashing on it constantly and we are getting nowhere fast on the phone to vodafone - last phone call went through 6 different people and the answer we got was "your account is set up wrong and you are seeing the date we should only see, We need to change over your account type"
Apparently its noticable as on my wifes name on line there is the letter "r" before it on everything to do with the account, is yours like this too? IE - "rJOHN SMITH"
i have tried so far....

we are on sky broadband and running a netgear dg834gt router
I have a few things running static IP addressed on the LAN but when i add one into the SS the router accepts it BUT the SS still just uses the next DHCP assigned one and will not use the reserved ip i have set for it. Why i dont know as i have an IP cam, printer and NAS drive all running static IP set up by myself......
Any Help welcome as we had it nearly a month and getting very fustrated with it.....

Hi MarkCoe,
Thanks for your post here.
I have checked all of your results and everything looks fine and is within the parameters of the Sure Signal.
However, when checking the Sure Signal serial number it is showing as invalid, please can you check this again for us and confirm the serial number so that we can check the registration for you.

Hi Mark,
I've checked your serial number and your unit is not connecting with our servers, can you try the folloing steps for me:
Manually configure your Router to allow port-forwarding.
In most cases, routers support a system called "Universal Plug-n-Play" or UPnP, which will setup port-forwarding for you automatically. If you have a complicated network setup, or a complex router, you may be required to enter these settings in manually.
The following details list the IP addresses and Port Numbers that need to be forwarded to your Sure Signal's internal IP address. For detailed instructions on how to do this, we recommend either contacting your ISP or Router Manufacturer, or referring to the Default Guide for your particular make and model, over at http://portforward.com
Destination IP Addresses:
212.183.133.177
212.183.133.178
212.183.133.179
212.183.133.181
212.183.133.182
212.183.131.128/26
Ports and Protocols:
Port 50 - TCP/IP
Port 4500 - UDP
Port 500 - UDP
Port 123 - UDP
Port 8 - TCP/IP
Port 1723 (BT Customers only) - TCP/UDP
Please note that in the above list of IP addresses, the notation "212.183.131.128/26" means the complete range of IP addresses between 212.183.131.128 and 212.183.131.191
Your Router will also need to be able to assign the Sure Signal with a DNS Server address via DHCP.
Check your MTU settings
Log into your admin page for your router
Find the location of the MTU field. This varies depending on the make and model of router so you’ll need to hunt around for it.
Change the value of the MTU size to 1500
Log out of the router, this will usually result in a reboot.
Let me know how you get on

right i have added the ports into the firewall on the router and have posted a screen shot to make sure its correct......
on port 500 i have had to make it TCP/UDP as UDP was occupied by VPN-IPSEC.
as u can see uPNP is on and i have opened up all LAN IP's to the rules rather than just the SS ip. This is because like i said earlier i can not make the SS static on the LAN - why i dont know as everything else i can! i assign it by MAC and restart everything and its on what ever its assigned by DHCP.
Please could u try your end again please and let me know if its any different......
thanks!

Hi Mark,
Thanks for getting back to us.
Everything looks absolutely fine so there’s one more thing that I’d like you to try:
Please test your Sure Signal on another connection (friend or family members etc). This will help us determine whether the fault lies with your connection or the Sure Signal.
Let us know how you get on.
Thanks,
Jenny
