Solution

Sure Signal & VeriFone

Hi all,

I have just obtained a VeriFone  Vx670 payment terminal and as I have zero VF signal without my Sure Signal, is it possible to add this terminal to the Sure Signal users? I know the number. I need to be able to do an end of the day update from home and need a signal for it to work.

Also if a new user is added to the Sure Signal, how long before they can be able to be connected and use it?

Many thanks,
Steve :smileytongue:

Hi Paffman,

To be honest I’m not too sure about this one.

In theory the answer is yes and it should be active on the sure signal within a couple of minutes although it may take up to 24 hours.

To get the number attached to the SIM in the terminal you will need to place the SIM from the terminal into a normal phone and dial *#100#.

The only I say in theory is that the Sure Signal is mainly designed for calls and texts rather than data although it can still handle data traffic.

Let me know how you get on.

James

Hi James,

Thanks for the info. I found the VeriFone sim number using *#100# and tried to resgister that number with my Sure Signal via VF website and I get the error -

  • Sorry. You can only add users who have a Vodafone mobile phone number. This will start with 07, and have 11 digits.

Well the number does start with 07 and it has 11 digits, so what is wrong? Your website error? Can you register it for me?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Paffman,

You’d usually get that message if the SIM card isn’t showing a Vodafone number. Who supplied you with the SIM card, was it Verifone themselves? It may be that they use Vodafone but have their own ‘Virtual Network’ for their devices. In this case, the terminal wouldn’t be able to connect to the Sure Signal.

Thanks

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I did query the sim when I got the terminal because I ordered it to be on the Vodafone network and when I looked the sim card had BT on it so I thought I had an 02 sim, But they told me that BT issues Vodafone sims?

Hi Paffman,

BT doesn’t issue Vodafone SIMs I’m afraid. From what you’ve said, if it’s a BT SIM in the terminal, this would be why it’s not connecting. In this case, there’s little more we can do other than refer you back to Verifone.

Thanks

Andrew

OK Andrew, I will get on to VeriFone and try get it sorted out. I will let you know what happens, thanks for your assistance.
