Solution

Sure Signal intermittantly connecting to Iphone 5

Hi,

I have a Sure signal 3 and two iphones in the house.  Iphone 4 works fine all the time.  My iphone 5 sometimes connects and sometimes will not.  If i turn the sure signal on and off it connects. It is getting a little frustrating as if i get a call and it has not connected the signal is that poor it drops straight away.  After paying £100 for this piece of kit i am a little perplexed as to why it is not 100 % or somewhere near 100 % connection improved.  I am the main account holder and I am using a BT home hub 4 with infinity 2 running at 80mbs at router.

Hi crowster80

Everything looks fine, the traceroute hits the servers, the speeds are good and the ping is as expected.

Those are the first things we check as often these are the root cause.

I have checked your serial number and can see all was well, apart from one hiccup, and although this has been resolved I have resynced your Sure Signal to correct any faults.

Please can you let me know if you're still experiencing the same issue.

Hi crowster80,

Thanks for the update, and for advising of the solution that worked for you.

It’s something that we’ll certainly keep in mind for any other iPhone 5 users who face the same issue.

Cheers,

Andy

Hi I am starting to get really fed up with this sure signal now.. I have come in today and flashing red and two static orange lights. I have rebooted twice and same effect all details attached to this thread please can someone let me know what is going on... I swear this has to be a problem with the sure signal and looks like it's going to be at least a few more days before I have a signal on my phone in my own house !

Hi crowster80,

The last contact made was 00:47 this morning.

Are you still having issues?

If so can you restart it for me and let me know if this rectifies it?

Ihanks

Hi crowster80

Thanks for letting us know. I'll be honest I myself don't know why this happens, it could just be down to the way the phone's built.

If it continues let me know and I'll investigate.

Thanks

Hi I know it's been A while but went to Apple and had my 5s replaced with a new phone. Still getting the issue with phone sometimes not connecting to sure signal automaticaly. I inadvertently stumbled across the issue I believe. I have 4 g in my area and if I walk in the house and still have a 1 bar 4g service the phone will not connect to the sure signal automatically. If I turn 4g off it connects straight away. I obviously don't want to have to keep doing this as it is quite annoying can you guys investigate why this would be the case and see if you have a better solution than keep turning the 4g off when I am in the house please ?

Hi crowster80,

When you come into range of the Sure Signal, it’s possible that there may be an active data connection in the background of the phone.

If this is the case, then it will stop the phone from connecting to Sure Signal.

The easiest way to remedy this would be to cycle the phone into aeroplane mode, which will stop any network connection and allow the connection to be made.

Hi James, I have tried the areoplane mode multiple times it briefly goes to 5 bars and then straight away hoes back down to 1 or 2.. There are now two ways of getting it latched to the sure signal. 1 force a network change to o2 and then back to automatic which takes several minutes or the quicker way turn 4 g off

Hi crowster80,

The 4G network is only used for data. You'd still use 2G/3G for calls or texts.

If you have a data connection running, it will show as "4G" on the phone. This doesn't mean you wouldn't have a full 3G signal, though.

If you try making or receiving a call, does the call get through?

If so, what is the call quality like? Does it stay connected?

This is not a 4g or even 3G issue it is a sure signal connection issue when having 4g enabled on my phone.. If the sure signal is not connected with my phone then calls are dropped and have generally poor quality service... The problem here is the the phone does not always connect automatically to the sure signal and the easiest way to connect it is to turn the 4g off
