Sure Signal often needs a 'reset' to make it work

JohnCl8

Often I come home and find there's next to no signal on my mobile.  I make a test call and it's clear the the Sure Signal (SSig) isn't working because the USERS light (Light 3 -the PHONE symbol) doesn't start flashing.  I hold down the reset button and it then works OK after it reboots.

However, I shouldn't have to do this every few days, surely?

Hi JohnCl8,

To be honest you shouldn’t have to do this every couple of days.

However, sometimes if your internet connection is on the borderline of the limits for the Sure Signal it can sometimes cause the VPN connection to be dropped and by doing a reset it re-establishes the connection for you.

Can I ask who your ISP is?

James

I have the same problem, my Internet connection is a stable 7.5 down / 0.4 up that hardly ever drops or slows down (ISP is zen) yet I frequently return home from work to find no signal. Usually I just pull the power and it's back online within five mins, today I tried the full reset and I'm still waiting half an hour later.....
I wish Vodafone would admit there's an inherent problem with this useless system and issue a fix or at least an upgrade to the firmware that allowed you to see exactly why it keeps dropping. So far my best plan is to leave Vodafone as soon as my contract is up in February!!!

My internet service provider is Virgin.  As expected, it was not working again today (the following day after posting the above)

And it's not working again today...

Why does it need a daily reset to make it work?

Hi guys,

Can I get you both to post your Sure Signal serial numbers so we can take a look at this end and see if anything shows up on the system?

Dave

My Sure Signal unit is made by SAGEM and looks like this:

http://www.mynextfone.co.uk/news/article/vodafone-sure-signal-launched

Serial Number:   21230511509

Well I can't post my serial number as the Suresignal site appears to be down yet again and the box is located in the loft so I'm not going up here at the moment. It's been posted several times before if you can search my previous posts.
At the rate this is going if I posted here everytime it failed and needed a reset I'd have a higher post count than the tech support guys.......

Hi JohncI8,

I can see that a location change has been detected so to fix this you just need to do the following:

-Log into your My Vodafone account

-Go to ‘Manage Sure Signal’

-Change the postcode to something else (you can use ST1 5GP)

-Change it back to what it should be

Let me know if this fixes the problem :Smiling:

SkudMissle, I’ve performed a resync today so please complete the process by doing a factory reset as follows:

  • Hold the reset button till all the lights come on or flash (about 30 seconds)
  • Keeping the rest button held, remove and re-insert the power lead
  • Once all the lights come on or flash, release the reset button
  • The VSS should come online within the hour

Thanks,

Jenny

Well I found no signal again this evening so I did the full reset (do you guys know exactly how difficult that is to do with only two hands???) after about an hour is came back up and within two its gone off again. No loss of Internet and speeds all fine, this is becoming a standing joke. My contract renewal is 19th of feb though it says I'm eligible already for an upgrade (not happening thats for sure!) so does anyone have any idea when I'd be able to get out of this contract? I'm guessing one month before I can give notice but I'd happily pay the extra months rental to be out now so I can change to a different network.
