Sure Signal stopped working - help please. (2 flashing lights)

JohnAdams101
4: Newbie

Hello,

I've had my Sure Signal for years now. Worked fine.

The last few weeks it has just had the 2 flashing lights.including thew red flashing light.

I've tried turning it off/on again - not helped.

Tried the reset procedure. No help.

Tried calling Vodafone - they advised they reset the vpn connection at their end. No help.

I've reset it again. No help.

Just the two lights flashing.

I've not made any broadband or firewall changes. It's worked fine for 2 years.

Can you help please?

Serial Number: 40114512748

My IP: 86.167.145.5

My broadband speed and quality is fine - 20mb down, 2mb up.

Hi guys,

harpsichord8 - We are an official Vodafone Customer Care forum, but we answer posts in the order they arrive so we can't always respond straight away.

There could be a number of things which have caused the problems you're having. We have most of the details on the other thread here so I'll respond on that one just to keep everything in one place for you.

------------------

JohnAdams101 - We suggest an alternate connection as it can help show if the box itself is faulty - if it works on that connection then it's OK.

If you're unable to test on one then I'd suggest sending it for repair.

Dave

Dave - It's not reasonable to suggest 'trying another connection'. I really do appreciate why that question is being asked - but it's not possible. I'll send it your own house if you want to pay the postage there and back and if your not on BT.

There's no point sending for a repair as the other poster has demontrated - they got a new box and it doesnt work.

There is an issue - i believe at your end or with BT broadband or between BT and Vodafone.

C'mon lads. Sort it out.

Paying money each month to have no signal at my house at the moment.

JohnAdams101, discussion continues on other thread http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Vodafone-Sure-Signal/Sure-Signal-suddenly-not-working-BTHomeHub2-all-... if you wish to follow. They should take the 'solved' thing off (which incidentally points to the post saying my unit is faulty).

Update: VSS3 now working after reset (4 hours - just got back home). Thank you for putting up with me. Maybe not BT fault in this case. Anna

Hi guys,

Johnadams101 - We are aware of an issue affecting some customers - you can see the details here - but you're not necessarily one of them.

As harpsichord8 has shown, it's not an all-encompassing issue and repairs can work. At this point there's nothing else we can do other than looking into that known issue and suggesting a repair just in case you're not affected by that.

Hi,

Sounds the same as mine - did you reset the unit after Vodafone resynced?

Resetting process wasn't as described elsewhere - Vodafone CS had to talk me through it: hold down button, two orange lights appeared after quite a long time (more than 30 secs) - lights 2 & 3, not light 1; red power light flashing. Then unplug unit while keeping reset button depressed. Then wait a few secs. Then plug back in with reset button pressed in and then release button. For a while after doing this, I got red solid light and flashing internet light (light 1); alternating with orange lights 2 & 3 and flashing red power light. Sequence alternated maybe 2-5 minutes for each one, with flashing internet light version on for longer. Left it alone and came back home after 4 hours to find all ok.
