Sure signal v3: Internal IP address keeps changing

Hi there,

We are having major issues with our Suresignal and have been trying to configure it for a number of weeks with no luck.

We're using a Belkin Router - ip 192.168.2.1

Upload Speed: 6.05mbps

Download Speed: 1.45mbps

Serial No: 40132120094

I've opened all ports required but the internal IP for the suresignal keeps rising - It started at 192.168.2.12 and in the last half hour has reassigned at a rising rate to .26  - I've been trying to find out how to give it a static IP but I can't find any info - Can anyone help please? At the moment I'm stuck with a flashing red power light and a static yellow user light.

Thanks

Hi Michael,

For whatever strange reason there is absolutly nothing on the internet telling how to set it up.:smileysurprised:

It might be worth getting in touch with Belkin Support to see if they can help with that one.

I'd imagine it's something quite simple, I don't have a Belkin to hand so I can't check but the option is usually hidden away somewhere.

Let su know how you get on with Belkin Support and what they get you to do.

Hi Nabs

Yep I've looked everywhere and according to various sources there isn't a way to reserve a static IP for a mac address on certain routers and this seems like one of them - But surely the suresignal shouldn't be renewing its IP this often? I can understand it changing if I restart the router but not every (on average) 5 mins - I should just be able to open ports and change the settings in there if I ever do a reboot of the router

Thanks

Michael

I'd imagine the DHCP server on the router must be set up to give it a very short lease.

I've never been a fan of Belkin routers, I have found them to be restrictive in the past and clearly that trend hasn't gotten any better.

Not sure there is an awful lot you can do to be totally honest. Sorry, not very helpful!

Nabs

The lease time is set to forever and all my other devices that are connected are retaining their IP's as I would expect them to do - Its just the suresignal - I need to know what my options are from here on in - Who do I need to contact at vodafone if not yourself in order to get this resolved - If its not going to work then fair enough but I would expect some kind of warning when buying it that says it doesn't work well with a Belkin router!

If you sit tight the eForum Team may have some ideas. Alternativly another member of the community might have it working with this model of router so could maybe help point toward a resolution

OK thanks Nabs,

I'll give it a bit longer and I'll see if Belkin get back to me with any other info

Cheers

Michael

Hi Alfienoakes,

Your IP address is listed as worldwide so we're unable to add this to the whitelist.

You will need to speak to your Internet service provider so that they can add your IP address to the Ripe database and list it as UK based.

Thanks,

Kay
