I just followed the instructions on this pinned topic.

Go to Control Panel and Network Connections (Network and Sharing Center and Manage Network Connections for Vista)
Double click the Vodafone Mobile Connect Connection which should fail with error 692, this is normal

There was no VMC Connection

Unplug the device and plug back in to Autoplay and install updated software

Got message "...gtomsbus.sys on USB Wireless Card installation disk is needed". What is that?
I tried to run the update again but it failed.

Bob

Hi Bob,

The VMC Connection doesn't appear unless you've had VMC installed and tried to connect with it at least once in the past. Have you done this?

Where abouts during the installation does the error message occur? Are you installing directly from the USB Modem?

I'll see if we can help with this :)

VMC was installed and had been in use for some time. I suspect it was not there when I followed the instructions at step 10 because step 5 says
Once installed go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs (Programs and features in Vista) and uninstall existing Vodafone Mobile Connect software

I have now reinstalled VMC from the exe file and things appear to work. I can't install from the stick.

When I close down the computer I get an error message: "MobileConnect.exe. Initialization failed". Never had this before.

Also now get "OptionConvertToModem.exe" error when I turn off the PC. Never had any errors before.

Hi Bob,

I have had a look at this for you and in all honesty cannot think of anything at the minute to suggest to get this connection. I will pass this on for a daytime Mod for them to have a look and see whether they can suggest anything further to explain these error messages.

we will back to you ASAP,

Many thanks

Deleting the Dial-up Connection isn't usually part of the uninstallation routine, so that's odd in itself.

As for the errors you're seeing, I've never encountered these before either  I think it's safe to say the upgrade to the modem was unsuccessful and has corrupted the software in some way. To overcome this completely, I'd recommend sending the modem for repair where it can be reflashed.

HI Bob

We had the same problem installing from the stick, after upgrading the Firmware ( retreived from this forum). After several attemps at trying to get it to work , we installed the non-plug n play version of VMC, also from this forum. this installed okay with no errors, however when plugging the stick in , it complained that another install was in placed. So we copied the driver folders containing the gtomsbus.sys file to another location on the c:\ drive.

We then uninstalled the VMC ( non-plug n plug version) . rebooted and plugged in the stick. when it errored and asked for the gtomsbus.sys file we pointed to the new loaction of drivers. this appeared to worked. (after four hours of stress and lack help from Vodafone help desk)

The sooner vodafone get some better sticks and software the better for all of us

Just to add a bit more.

There are two Important topics which are pinned.

Dont use the fw update from this link Pinned: Updating The K3760 To Vmc 9.3.6.12095 Rp54 Error 635 fix

use the one from this link from Pinned: Updating Firmware For K3760

Updating the firmware on the K3760:

  • Download the Firmware Update Utility from http://uploads.vodafone-ets.co.uk/Public/U...ip_upgrader.zip
  • Extract the files to a location on the machine
  • Ensure the SIM card is removed from the device and the Vodafone Mobile Connect Software is not running (use File and Exit within the VMC software to ensure the software is not running in the system tray)
  • Run the extracted Blacktip_fw_1.5.0.0Hd.exe file following on screen instructions to apply.
  • Once the update process is complete (it will display the time taken to apply the update, and the light status on the device will return to normal from rapidly alternating Red and Blue LEDSs) Reconnect the device and use as normal
