Usb Modem With Ubunto Os

gtasset
Not applicable
I have a new Dell Inspiron Mini 10 with the Ubunto OS. I visited a store in Edinburgh where the staff was kind enough to let me try a TopUp and Go USB Modem Stick before purchasing. When inserted in the USB port the device was recognized, a screen for configuration opened and then the stick got a blue light which I understand indicates its working. However, the connection icon on the Mini continued to rotate without establishing a connection. When the cursor was scrolled over the icon, a window popped up stating it was dialing. I opened the browser but received a message stating I was not connected.

Is there a way to make this work? This is my first netbook with an OS other than Windows.

Thanks.

Hi gerryt,

Firstly, if no-one's done so already then I'd like to welcome you to the eForum Family :).

Whilst we don't offcially support Ubuntu for any of our Mobile Connect products I see that the guys have been very helpful in recommending the Betavine site to download Ubuntu software. Thank you to everyone who's posted so far :).

Be sure to let us know if you do get this working successfully :).
