Hello,
My VSS has been working until I lost my internet connection, now I can't get it to work again.
On checking my router configuration I noticed that there is no IP address shown for the VSS in the DHCP client table. I thought this was found automatically, but as it isn't there can you tell me how to get it - I presume without this my VSS wont connect to the internet. The port forwarding has been set up correctly with help from my Router Mnaufacturer, and everything else, ie. dowload and upload speeds, ping, MTU, etc. are all ok, as was the traceroute when I did it a week ago.
Help please.
Sue.

Hello,
Thank you for all your help. I have changed the ethernet cable and my VSS is working perfectly now; I guess the old one was faulty and caused all the problems I had.
Thanks again,
Sue.

Hello,
Unfortunately I can't send you a traceroute because it says that 212.183.133.177 not recognised as a command.
The other information that you requested is as follows:
VSS serial no. 40131560225
Download speed 6.26Mbps
Upload speed 0.41Mbps
Ping 48ms
Jitter 6ms
IP address for Kcom 213.249.174.212
This is the 3rd time I have submitted this information, twice on the eforum and once on the phone.
My router is now picking up the IP address for the Sure Signal in the DHCP Client List, but I still have only flashing red light and stable orange user light.
I hope this helps you to solve my problem,
.
Sue.

Hi sue_joy,
You need to type 'tracert 212.183.133.177' for this to work, can you try again for us?
Also, the light sequence indicates it is a connection/IP allocation issue with your router. Please can you follow the information here and let us know how you get on?
Thanks,
Kay

Hello,
Firstly let me say that the VSS has been working (though only for about 24 - 36 hours) until my internet connection dropped out - so it has worked on the present router configuration, and the VSS has been successfully registered.
You have asked me to supply you with the following, yet again:
Download speed 6.26Mbps
Upload speed 0.41Mbps
Ping 48ms
Jitter 6ms
IP address for Kcom 213.249.174.212
VSS serial no. 40131560225

The router has assigned an internal IP address to the VSS.
MTU is set to 1500.
I have an active internet connection.
I have rebooted the router.
I have reset the VSS ( but the lights don't go out when the reset button pressed, only when the button released)
Port forwarding has been checked by ZyXEL (my router manufacturer) tech team and that's all ok.
And I have done or checked everything else on your troubleshooting list!!!
RED LIGHT STILL FLASHING AND HAVE A STABLE ORANGE USER LIGHT.
I hope I haven't forgotten anything. Help please.
Sue.
PS. all this information can also be seen in my last thread.

Hi sue_joy,
This light sequence usually appears when the Sure Signal can’t get a connection through the router.
As your last connection was made at the end of August, this would support what we’re seeing.
Can you check the Ethernet cable connection and also try a different cable and Ethernet port on the router?
Also, does the router have an inbuilt firewall that you could lower for a bit to see if this is stopping the Sure Signal from connecting?
