This thread has been created to discuss and troubleshoot the version 3 Sure Signal when the light sequence is as follows:

  • Power: Flashing
  • Internet: Off
  • In Service: Solid Orange
  • In Use: Solid Orange

Cause

This light sequence indicates the Sure Signal's not active and it has been unable to authenticate on the Vodafone network

Troubleshooting

Please restart your Sure Signal. If the symptoms continue please add the following details to this thread:

  • Your speed test results from here
  • Your ping test results from here
  • Your external IP address from here
  • Your Sure Signal serial number
  • The results of a traceroute

Traceroute command:

On a PC:

  1. Click on Start and select Run
  2. Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  3. A black box will appear
  4. In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
  5. Paste the output of this command into your reply

On a Mac:

  1. Open Terminal (Applications, Utilities)
  2. Type 'traceroute 212.183.133.177'
  3. Press Enter

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

Thanks

Hi @steele_k,

There are compatibility issues with the HomeHub 3. If you try the Sure Signal in a different property (family/friend's house), and it works, you'll need to speak with BT about getting a new router.

Thanks,

Matt B

Thanks but I've tried that. An alternative router isn't available as I'm on a BT Business package.  This was my last option to fix the woeful coverage so I'll need to switch to an alternative mobile operator.

@DaveCD

Many thanks - it's just this second started working.

its been working for a while as I used the plusnet modem and router. BUT the internet signal is unstable so trying the homehub again to see if its hardware. did as you suggested re smart setup and reset suresignal but still back to red light, nothing and two orange lights. hope you can help as I understand issue with plusnet and suresignal has now been sorted. regards

Hi
over the last couple of days I have had problems with my sure signal dropping out. Prior to this it has run fine for 18 months plus. it is a version 3.

First problem occurred a couple of days ago after a couple of resets it worked fine, but over the last 24 hours it has been unresponsive to resets. I have the red flashing power light, internet off and the amber in service and in use buttons.

The only thing that has changed is that I upgraded my daughters contract and changed devices (so deleted her off the sure signal user list and re-instated her once the new phone was up and running). It was a day after this that the first problem occurred.

One concern is that I did receive a message from Vodafone saying that:
"Your Vodafone Sure Signal 40123617686 in postcode XXXXX has been suspended due to Inactivity. " I think this may have been for an old sure signal? The message was several weeks ago and I did reply saying my sure signal was in daily use but got no response.

The Sure signal Serial no in use is:40123666790

My external IP is 86.184.10.226
I have provided the trace route below, but given that this has worked for a long period of time, think it must be something else?

Please ignore the post above. It has just kicked into life, unless of course you reset it at your end - if so thanks!

Anyone know how fast an answer will come?

Suprisingly quickly.   Just may not have a solution  :smileywink:
