This thread has been created to discuss and troubleshoot the version 3 Sure Signal when the light sequence is as follows:

  • Power: Flashing
  • Internet: Off
  • In Service: Solid Orange
  • In Use: Solid Orange

Cause

This light sequence indicates the Sure Signal's not active and it has been unable to authenticate on the Vodafone network

Troubleshooting

Please restart your Sure Signal. If the symptoms continue please add the following details to this thread:

  • Your speed test results from here
  • Your ping test results from here
  • Your external IP address from here
  • Your Sure Signal serial number
  • The results of a traceroute

Traceroute command:

On a PC:

  1. Click on Start and select Run
  2. Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  3. A black box will appear
  4. In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
  5. Paste the output of this command into your reply

On a Mac:

  1. Open Terminal (Applications, Utilities)
  2. Type 'traceroute 212.183.133.177'
  3. Press Enter

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

Thanks

I appear to have the same problem with my Sure Signal V3 as a lot of people. It has been working fine for months. Turned it off last night and turned back on this morning now not working.

I've tried restarting and resetting it and rebooting my rooter - but still get the same problem.

Help would be appreciated as now without any mobile signal as in a very bad area.

 Roger

i never turn mine off, it was showing the fault code this morning when I got up

Back up and working again. That's great back in the land of communication again!!!!!

Hi everyone,

We were aware of a brief outage that was affecting Sure Signals.

We’ve been advised that this has now been resolved.

Please reset your Sure Signal and this should have it back up and running for you.

We apologise for any inconvenience and if you’re still facing an issue, just let us know.

Thanks,

Sarah

Mine still not working. Just ends up going to flashing red and solid phone light. Have reset a number of times and left overnight!

Sadly, mine is still not working, so I've been wiothout a decent phone signal for weeks. The new VSS displays exactly the same lights as the previous one and despite Vodafone asking for the serial number form time to time, nothing seems to happen.

'Brief outage' now in 4th day. Started Sunday pm and still not working yet despite sending all the test data requested by your colleague and to which no one has bothered to respond, plus rebooting router (BT HH3) and SS3.

Long techie responses like some have sent may be useful to the more technically minded but I just want my SS3 to work as it has been doing for the last +2 years with no problem. There have been no hardware changes - it just went off Sunday afternoon. Clearly Vodafone and/or BT need to get their act together otherwise I will be looking for new service providers for both.

I have spoken to Vodafone.

Apparently it was outage this morning which is affecting Sure Signal users on BT.

There is no estimation of when it will be fixed - but BT and Vodafone are working on it as a priority. Apparently.
