Hi, I'm using mobile braodband on vista and I'm very happy with it. However, after installing the software from the dongle I( can't log on to my local wi fi network because explorer won't automatically go to the login screen. Can anyone help me please. I've tried setting the setting to automatically detect LAN settings.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Yachtfreya,

Unfortunatley I'm not sure I understand the problem here. Are you trying to connect to a public Wi-Fi hotspot, or is this a home Wi-Fi connection? If it's the latter, then make sure Wi-Fi is turned on, and look for the Wifi symbol in the bottom right corner of your screen - click this to select the WiFi network you want to log in to.

If it's the former, then can you describe exactly what's happening that stops you from logging in, and what steps you would normally take to access WiFi?

Hello,
Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to connect to my local library network. When one tries to log on the computer automically goes to the log-in screen. It won't do thatanymore. I can also log on to the local BT open internet, but again the computer won't go to the log in screen.
Thanks for your help. I'm getting desperate.

Hi Tom,

which VMC version are you using?

Does it work when you completely exit VMC (no Vodafone icon in System Tray)?

Hi,
Sorry but I have no idea what a VMC is!

I've just tried your suggestion and closed down the prog completely, but it didn't work.

I thank you for trying and appreciated anything you might be able to send.

The man in the library suggested that I go to tools in explorer and set the lan to automatically detect settings but that didn't work either.

Thanks again.

Hi Yachtfreya,

VMC stands for Vodafone Mobile connect, this is the connection software you use when you connect to the internet via one of our dongles.

When you say you have closed the application can you tell me if there is any Red/orange symbols at the bottom right hand toolbar?

If yes please right click the icon and select disconnect.

Also can you click menu and connect to

Does this bring up a wireless network option?

If you search for networks do you have a favorite network set up which is set to login automatically?

Thanks for your help,

Yes I closed the Red symbol in the tool bar and the computer still wouldn't go to the log-in screen.

There is a WLAN option on the menu, hwen pressed it says, "Select the WLAN software that you would like to use."

On the computer I don't have a favorite network. What happens is Expolorer should automatically go to the logal library log-in screen or to BT Open Zone, so that I can log in and/or pay for the connection. Whatever I try it won't go to the screen. I've even tried putting in the address of the log-in screen. Everything was working fine right up until I installed VMC.

About says I am using Version 9.4.417702 HUAWEI.

I hope that help and I really thank you for your help with this.

If I can't get the computer back I'll have to restore and send the dongle back. I don't want to to that because it is a good bit of kit.

Thank you again.

Hi Yachtfreya,

What page are you getting instead of the login page? Does it have any error messages or information on it that could help us?
