Hi ealvarez,
Thank you for posting. It sounds like you've got VMC (Vodafone Mobile Connect) set to automatically check for software updates. I don't have a copy of the software to hand, however if I recall correctly, you'll be able to disable this in the tools menu.
If this doesn't work, or you're unable to find the option, then I'd recommend connecting without the VMC software running. This can be done by going to Start > Connect To > Vodafone Mobile Connect.
