Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 mobile data problems

I dont know if I live in a poor signal area however, I like to stram music to my car from the Flaix.fm App, however when ever I leave home it is almost impossoble to get a H+ or 4G signal unless I either restart my phone or switch flight mode on/off...sometimes both. Inside my house and just outside, it is rare that I get any signal at all. I am seriously looking at going back to giff gaff if it is a signal issue.

Does anyone else have this problem.

Hi

Can you please check if you've not already done so what the Vodafone Network Mast Status Checker is reporting for your area.

Please use the Zoom out feature in the map to check surrounding areas for issues.

Vodafone have provided a specific Self Help Thread that holds Initial Checks and a Template that asks certain questions that will Help the Tech Team to ascertain what's possibly going wrong in your area. Please would you re post the template with your answers for this team to help you.

Have a look at the coverage checker and see what you should be getting.

If you restart to get H+ or 4G, is the connection stable, or does it eventually drop back?  It could be that the signal is there but not strong enough to be maintained.  In those circumstances, sometimes pegging the device to a lower level (even 2G) can produce better results as it maintains the connection, rather than having it constantly switch.   I don't know how well streaming would work on 2G, but it might be worth giving it a go.

it says I Should get 2G ie calls etc( which is not good enough for streaming ) Although It is very hit and miss, IT does work if I hope on one leg and sacrifce a can of cherry coke to the moon god. well occasionally it does. Also when I go into the nearest town Wakefield I often have to restart or switch flight mode on/off to get my full 4G signal working...which when working is great as I get roughly 40mb up/down.

Ok.

Yes, unfortunately 2G won't sustain streaming.

Try Diet Coke as an offering instead 😉

Your phone should really search for the strongest signal available where you are at the time and switch around seamlessly.

I know that but what can the issue be when in the middle of a town centre, I have no data signal, turn the phone off and back on again and then bingo full 4G signal ..strange and annoying

It could be the phone not performing properly.

Process of elimination: Can you try your Sim in another phone to rule out either the Sim or Phone which may be at fault.

Your best option might be to drop into a Vodafone shop and see if they have another phone they can try your SIM in.   If that doesn't work either, it may be that you simply need a new SIM.

There can be issues on the edge of a 3G cell where the service drops while you're using it.   3G is contended so, if it's near capacity, the effective size of the cell can shrink and you drop off.  4G has better range and works slightly differently so that, if you've got a connection, you keep it.   You can still lose it and drop back to 3G if the signal path is interrupted, though.

Thanks, Blackwatch.

Been having the exact same problem with my Vodafone Smart Ultra 7.  If I go home or to work and pick up the WiFi, then data doesn't work when I leave.  Vodafone have been unable to help with this issue.  I was always restarting the phone, which takes a while.  Didn't realise activating/deactivating flight mode does the same thing.  Cheers!

Vodafone help team - is there a setting we can change in the APN settings or somewhere to make this work?
