Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 randomly lags and glitches

I very recently (last weekend) went on a trip and took my Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 with me.

I noticed that the phone was being very weird in the sense that it was sometimes not recognising my taps on the screen and when for example I would want to bring down the notification bar it would instead open an app or register it as a tap instead of a swipe etc. Also holding down on apps to drag them around would result in it being registered as a tap or once dragged would glitch around.

As well as the glitching around and not properly recognising taps, swipes, holds etc it would also sometimes have a delayed response.

(Just to clarify: I didn't drop my phone or expose it to any water that I was aware of)

Once I got home I had the idea that the glitching may have been caused by the heat (it was very hot outside) and my phone was in my pocket of my black trousers with a black phone case on so it seemed like a plausable cause.

Once I had cooled down the phone I tried to use it and it definitely had improved from when I last used it however there was still some random glitching every so often.

As I was continuing to use it the glitching and lagging gradually got a lot worse until I got to the point where I couldn't unlock it without hard work. Once I did I then shut it down and restarted it.

On restart it intitially improved and was usable again.

Fast forwarding to the present and currently I've got my phone where it continues to glitch, lag etc as explained above.

However it comes and goes at random times:

-Sometimes it will happen as soon as I unlock it from a restart and will gradually get better until there are no signs of it at all.

-Other times it will randomly happen out of nowhere and often preceded by evidence of it coming back until it gradually gets worse until the point of it being unusable and having to struggle to restart it.

What I have done so far:

-I have cleared app caches to no short term or long term prevail

-I have reset my phone in which I did use a backup from google's servers to restore my data which didn't help either. (I haven't tried a reset where I don't use a backup to see whether it runs fine with vanilla apps)

That's it really.

From my observations it seems to me to be a hardware problem caused by something that happened during that weekend (to me it seems like maybe the touchscreen and/or internals were damaged by the heat due to heat making things expand)

However I'm hoping it is a software related problem that someone could help me try to fix but heading to a Vodafone shop to get it looked at is an option because it should be covered by warranty.

Any help would be appreciated. :Smiling:

Hi

The situation with the heat may have caused condensation causing issues and could have tripped the internal water sensors. If this is the case it's very possible that Vodafone will not help under the manufacturer warranty.

I would suggest approaching a Vodafone Highstreet store and have it sent off to be looked at.

Take Time / Date stamped pictures of the device to show the condition you sent it back in

"Also make sure when sending your device for repair that you keep hold of your SIM. You also shouldn't send your memory cards, battery and/or back cover (if they're removable) - if these are included with your phone when it goes for repair we can't guarantee their return."

As the phone was bought from Amazon we claimed on the warranty resulting in them sending me a new Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 and the old one (with the 'broken' touchscreen) being sent back to them. :Smiling:
