Hey there,
I recently purchased a Vodafone connect usb 6 Dongle on 12 month contract, I have been able to successfully set it up and use it on my Laptop, but not on my desktop.
I am using wondows 8, and it's updated to the latest settings.
When I have connected the device, it goes from connecting, to limited, to connected and then goes to no connection.
When connecting i have my ethernet cable removed, and I have tried restarting my computer and removing the device.

Could there be any security suite , fire wall or other type of blocker that's hindering you.
