Vodafone Updates Error

Hello.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 which also comes with the Vodafone Updates built in.

However, almost 2-3 times every day when using a certain app, I get an error message that says 'Unfortunately Vodafone Updates has stopped'.

Do you know if there is a fix for this as the last thing I want to do is uninstall the Updates app.

Many thanks,

Christopher

Hi Christopher

This is happening on my phone also with the addition of my phone freezing just before the error message pops up. If I hear of a fix I'll let you know.

I hope Vodafone will respond to this.

Lorraine

Hi Lorraine,

Yes, you've got it in one. That's exactly what happens with me. It freezes for a good 5 seconds and then the error pops up. It's so frustrating. The last thing I want to do is uninstall it.

Hopefully we'll hear from Vodafone ASAP and like you say, if you find a fix I'd very much appreciate it.

Thanks Lorraine.

Regards,

Chris

Hi Chris

I called Vodafone, they told me to call Samsung. Samsung told me it was a Vodafone fault and to call them. I tweeted Vodafone and have been advised that the only thing that will resolve this issue is a factory reset!

I really wanted to avoid this but I think it's the only way .

Lorraine

Hi Lorraine,

It’s great that you talked to Vodafone & Samsung.

Oh no, I did a Factory Reset just over a month ago because I had this issue back then. I really want to avoid it too as it means downloading all apps again etc.

If you are going to go ahead with the Factory Reset, could you let me know if you get the error message again? If not then I'll reset the phone too. I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Chris

I think Samsung are right, but I certainly wouldn't mess around with a reset.

PLEASE will a mod look at this as I think it may be a server issue.  Either that or the data connection.

To the OPs: is there any way of disabling Vodafone Updates?  Is there a Force Stop option in Settings|Applications|Management?  It would restart each time you restart the phone, but might suppress the annoying message until we get to the bottom of this.

Right to stop all the confustion

This ia not a Update to Firmware

But its Vodafones own app that has failed

If you open up Applications Manager you will find a app called updates

This is one of Vodafones own apps that has failed

You have two choices here Leave things and Hope Vodafone get this sorted

Or Dissable the app and re anable this if you want later on

The update app only updates there apps

Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies.

Hopefully Vodafone will have a look into this ASAP.

The only option I can see is 'Force stop' but that tells me it may cause errors. The 'Disable' option is currently greyed out.

Thanks,

Chris

Once you press Force Stop, you will be able to disable. :smileywink:

Hi,

Thanks for the tip.

I have just 'Reset app preferences.' I'm going to see how that pans out.

Cheers,

Chris

Well your not on your own i turned this back on this morning and yep its not working same error on the S3

As Soupdragon said to dissable any App it has to be stopped first

The app is tring to comunicate with a strange server address that is not responding

Hopfully the efprum team can find out what is going on
