They switch off my service for no reason and can't get the numbers reconnected if they had a payment issue they could have stopped outgoing calls but they stopped the whole service not even 191 would work this company is total incompetence at its highest level they have the nerve to say I will have to pay to terminate a contract they break and can't sort out DONT GO WITH THIS LOT OF LIARS

Vodafone turned off service completely about 10pm could not dial out or in. Was given no warning I found they considered there was an outstanding bill due it was actually not due for payment in 3 days
I have 5 lines in service I got all put back on except my wife's phone I made over 10 calls and was told the number was no longer associated to my account but had been given to another customer already less than 6hrs. My wife has many calls from hospital as she is waiting emergency surgury I hope the person who holds the number don't answer
Vodafone are a load of useless idiots who can't give any sort of customer service

In my experience a Network would normally only take such drastic action if avenues of collecting payments had failed along with avenues of communication.
As I understandably have no access to people's accounts I'm not able to comment on the status of your account and when actual payment was due. In regards to bill payments I've always found the Direct Debit route to be the best way.
If you have no access to someone you knows phone with Vodafone SIM card in so you can dial 191 then there is Vodafone Landline Tel :03333040191.
And or Live Chat > Contact-us.
A mobile number can be quarantined after its been deactivated and then reissued to another person but the timeframe you mentioned sounds fast but it's up to Vodafone how and when they do this.
I would suggest also checking your Credit File just to see if anything negative has been reported on it too. Http://www.experian.co.uk is one Avenue.
We also have a Vodafone Support Team here on the Community Forum who read all posts and engage if they can assist. Perhaps Give them a little time to reach yours.

Hi thanks for the info .the lies and excuses as to why they disconected and why they can't reconnect one of my 5 lines continue. I've had to endure all these
the system is down for mainainance
the phone is broken
the phone has got wet
the phone number has been taken off my account and given to another customer thier exact words not mine !,,
the SIM card is damaged. Drive to shop get a new sim it will be ok did so Sunday a round trip of 40 miles told to wait 24 hrs to see if the new sim works. If not come back Monday
told the sim given was a white one not a red one it won't work on my phone they will post a new sim that I will get in 2 to 3 working days
told it could be possible when I suggested terrorists had hijacked my phone service
told I won't be able to cancel the contract THEY have defaulted on unless I pay a cancellation fee Told a senior manager had sorted my problem and phone would be on in 30mins still off 12hrs later
Vodafone is a total incompetent company and thier operators find it funny and can be heard sniggering when in conversation to annoyed customers they are not worthy of having customers.
