Vodafone broadband router - fundamental flaw

Just got online with Vodafone and have immediately discovered a significant limitation, that seems to be widely known for a long time!

I cannot connect to my wired devices using my wireless phone. I use apps to control my smart TV, I use apps to FTP to my media player, I havent even looked at my printer yet!

I tried to chat but they had no idea, wouldn't give out router details and just ended the conversation mid chat. I am still in the cool off period, so I expect I may rethink my provider. Big let down.
