Since I got my iPhone 7+ it's great but rather bulky and there's times when I'd rather use my smaller iPhone 6.
Is there a way to have another SIM card - presumably would have to have another number - but still uses the allocation of minutes and data from my main contract - just to save having to swap SIM cards around.

The only thing you will be able to share will be your data. This can be done on a Red Plus tariff. The other SIM on a Red + would also have an allocation of unlimited minutes and texts.
If Red + is an option, there is information available from the website on the link below.
A workaround for receiving calls on the second SIM, would be to have the SIM as PAYG and set up a divert from your contract number. Although this is probably not idea as far as outgoing is concerned.
